Position Overview

Ultimate Staffing is actively seeking an experienced Sr. Project Engineer to join their client's dynamic team in California. This role requires a motivated individual who is passionate about project engineering within the construction industry. The Sr. Project Engineer will play a pivotal role in ensuring that projects are executed seamlessly, from inception to completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Schedule and lead coordination meetings with subcontractors and design teams; document and distribute meeting notes.
  • Inspect construction sites daily and manage subcontractor performance in alignment with contract documents.
  • Participate in job walks to document progress, identify potential issues, and provide detailed status updates.
  • Coordinate all submittals between subcontractors and design teams.
  • Review owner and subcontractor contracts, including general conditions and exclusions.
  • Review designs, drawings, submittals, and shop drawings for compliance with contract specifications.
  • Research and resolve drawing interpretation issues, conflicts, and discrepancies; prepare and process RFIs as needed.
  • Manage the potential change order (PCO) process, including validation, documentation, and submission.
  • Oversee submittal, RFI, close-out, and punch list processes to ensure timely communication among consultants, owners, and subcontractors.
  • Identify and communicate potential financial or schedule risks.
  • Train internal staff and external teams on document control procedures (Submittals, RFIs, Close-Out, Punch Lists, etc.).
  • Analyze and resolve field construction problems, coordinating with design teams and owners when necessary.
  • Prepare detailed documentation such as punch lists, status reports, and material calculations.
  • Participate in design and coordination meetings with owners, architects, engineers, and contractors.
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of construction techniques, materials, drawings, and applicable industry standards.
  • Utilize Procore or similar construction management software to generate reports and track project progress.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and maintain project logs.
  • Manage project milestones such as substantial completion, certificate of occupancy, warranties, and close-out documentation.
  • Interpret technical manuals, codes, and specifications as needed to support project execution.
  • Maintain project metrics using logs, charts, and tracking systems.
  • Support the Project Manager in establishing project administration and document control protocols.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-5 years in construction project engineering or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of surveying techniques, design standards, and construction management principles.
  • Experience with large-scale commercial projects (e.g., healthcare, higher education, corporate campuses, justice, or science & technology) preferred.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficient in MS Office Suite, Excel, and Bluebeam.
    • Experience with Procore or similar project management software required.
    • Familiarity with scheduling and estimating tools; proficiency in Primavera P6 preferred.
    • Advanced ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrates initiative, attention to detail, and leadership in team settings.

Monday - Friday, 1st Shift

Additional Details

Salary Range: $105,000 - $145,000 per year
